HF holidays were offering a good deal on a 4 night self guided holiday to Holnicote House, near Selworthy in North Devon
As we had not visited that area we decided to try it. The journey from Malvern took 3 hours. M5 to Bridegwater then the A39 to Minehead. We arrived before we could check in so we wandered round Minehead, investigating Minehad Railway station, which has the UK's longest platform
On May 14 we decided to walk to the local beach at Bossington which we found had a lot of large pebbles.
Liz returned back to Holnicote but I walked along the coast via the Selworthy Beacon which had a good view of the south wales coast
I returned back through the centre of Selworthy village. 8.7 miles. in total
The following day I went to a site on the North face of Dunkery Beacon to experience the radio path to Cleeve Common near Cheltenham.
After touring the castle we went to Dunster beach.
Looking back towards the castle we had a big surprise:-
A steam train!! The surprise was that there wasnt any scheduled service on the railway that day! It turned out they were staff training runs
On May 16 we drove the 123 miles back to malvern which took 2.5 hours
